How did I get to know so much? Well, that's a long story and to learn the details, I invite you to read my bio. However, I can tell you that I grew up with a mother who had bipolar disorder and that when her situation recently became much worse, I decided to put everything on hold to find out more about the disorder so that I could help her become stable. What I learned from helping my mother was that there are many, many topics that most books, articles, and web sites don't discuss - debt, finances, personal development, health - that are critical to your or your loved one's success against the disorder. That's why I've included all of this information here so that it is readily available to you whenever you need it. As you read through the site - and I hope that you will - you'll notice that my opinions don't always agree with what some experts and doctors say. That's because most of those experts and doctors have NEVER lived with someone who has it. But the site isn't about questioning the opinions of so-called experts, it's about helping you learn from my mistakes so that you don't have to waste years and thousands of dollars in order to discover the secrets to getting the disorder under control. But it's a real battle for me. I expect things from myself that I would never expect from anyone else, and it really messes with my bipolar disorder, because, well, no one's perfect, and no one can live with that kind of stress.
So I was talking to someone about it lately, and they told me, "It's ok to strive for perfection, as long as you don't expect to arrive at perfection."
It's ok to make mistakes. That's what I've been learning. If you don't learn that, you'll be bound up in fear (another thing that's bad for our bipolar disorder). |
